My Adventures In Cooking

As I told you all, we had a very busy weekend.  Andrew asked me last night if I had posted in a while and I told him I did last week and said I wouldn't be back until this week, so here I am!  The wedding we worked this weekend was amazing.  Once Cynthia has pictures up, I will let you all know so you can check them out.  While the wedding was great, we were both exhausted yesterday and pretty much sat on our rears most of the day.  I couldn't seem to get myself out of bed yesterday.  It took two attempts and coffee in the middle.  I don't think it helped much when I got out of bed the first time and couldn't even walk.  My legs are still killing me and I didn't even do anything with them, or so I thought.  I was a flower making fool on Saturday though.  The bride loved everything, so our hard work paid off.  One lesson learned from this weekend though.  If you are going to be in a customer facing job, no matter who the customer is, you should probably be nice to people.  We came across some rather unpleasant people, but for the sake of a smooth running day we just smiled and went along.

Yesterday, while making our grocery list, I decided I was going to be a little daring this week and attempt to cook fish.  I'm not taking the fish sticks that come frozen and you slap them on the cookie sheet and stick them in the over.  No, I'm talking some full on salmon cooked on the stove.  The prospect frankly freaked me out.  I had visions of things going horribly wrong.  So, I set out to find a good recipe and, to my surprise, it didn't sound as hard as I thought.  Heat some oil in a pan, put the fish in skin up, cook for 4 minutes, flip and call it done... I can do that!  Here is my delicious looking salmon right out of the skillet.  I'm pretty excited.

As I type this I am waiting for the rest of my meal to cook.  Call me Susie Homemaker tonight.  I find I LOVE to cook in the summer time way more than I do in the winter.  I feel like I have more options in the summer, I think.  For instance, my summer loves include fresh green beans, corn on the cob, any fresh fruit I can get my hands on... Andrew and I are planning a trip to the farmers market this weekend, so I'm sure some tomatoes will be coming home with us and I will be having BLT's at some point in the next week.

Now, to finish my dinner story.  Tonight we are dining on salmon, fresh green beans from Trader Joe's and golden mashed potatoes... don't hate, you know you wish you were sitting at my dining room table right now.

I came home today to find that Andrew had made a ton of progress on our path for the yard.  His goal is the have it all dug out by the time he goes to work on Wednesday, so I might post an update then.  For now, I will leave you with a delicious photo!
