Welcome to my new blog! I am excited to start this adventure for whoever follows along. Andrew and I just purchased our first home, a 1911 bungalow. This blog is about our adventures in home ownership, dog ownership, and life in general. We are slowly remodeling/updating our home and now you can follow along in our adventures as we wonder what on earth we got ourselves into from time to time.
Not being ones to waste time, we wanted to get started on the project list right away. While Andrew set out to clean up the rotten wood pile we acquired with the home purchase, I set out to make the kitchen pretty!
Project #1- The Kitchen
The kitchen had been painted a really stark white when we moved in. To me, it looked purple and I couldn’t do purple in the kitchen. After pondering paint options, my mom suggested grey. I loved the idea, so I pitched it to Andrew. He was down with grey, so grey it was. One problem, before we could paint, there was some old wallpaper that needed to be taken down. With vinegar water and scrapper in hand, I set off the get rid of the 1970’s wallpaper. Two days and a few choice words later, the kitchen was done. I love how it turned out.
Here are a few before and after photos:
It was in the process of putting things away in the cupboards that I realized at some point, I would like to replace the kitchen cabinets for something more functional and matching. A few of the drawer fronts don’t match the rest of the cabinets which annoys me, but will work for now.
At some point in the near future, I would like to replace the refrigerator. The 14 cu. Ft. of space isn’t going to cut it for me.
